Local history study

Investigate the development of an Edinburgh street using primary sources of evidence.

Working in groups, pupils piece together information from the late 19th and early 20th centuries to find out about the development of Crawfurd Road and Craigmillar Park on the south side of Edinburgh. Find about the Dickson family who lived at No 5 and the French teacher and his family who lived next door. Who lived and worked in the Royal Blind Asylum in Craigmillar Park?

A plan and a page from a valuation roll
