The National Archives of Scotland, in partnership with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland, Historic Scotland and others, is planning a series of events during 2007.

Join in the secondary schools’ annual Donald Dewar Memorial Debating Tournament 2006-07, run by the Law Society, to debate motions relating to the theme of democracy. Primary school pupils can look forward to a history trail in Edinburgh and Aberdeen investigating how Scotland was governed over the centuries.

All participating partners will provide support materials on the historical significance of the Union and the architecture of democracy for primary and secondary schools in a free booklet and CD-ROM. Details of the programme of events and resources will be published and updated on a designated website. Watch this space for further news.
