The role of Scottish women in WW2

Investigate the impact of the war on the lives of women and how it changed their role in society.

During the Second World War, women were more than simply mothers, wives, sisters and daughters. As part of their contribution to the war effort, many joined the armed forces. Others took on additional voluntary, industrial or agricultural work while still looking after their families.

Activities
Working in groups, pupils will examine primary sources of evidence to find out about the roles of Scottish women during the war. They will create a presentation using their research and deliver it to the class in a plenary session
