Unit 2 - Belief

Letters written by soldiers often avoided candid descriptions of hardships and events, to avoid upsetting either their families or the army censors. Nevertheless they provide vivid glimpses into the thoughts and lives of men being changed by their experiences.

Some men took strength from religion while others expressed opinions based on values and personal experience independent of any religious faith.
